VISTA - An 18-year-old man pleaded guilty Wednesday to vandalism charges for defacing scores of commercial and residential properties in Vista with graffiti, causing more than $15,000 damage.
Luis Enrique Maganda will be sentenced to 180 days in jail at a hearing April 21 at the Vista Courthouse, said Deputy District Attorney Matthew Greco.
Maganda pleaded guilty to one felony count and five misdemeanor counts of vandalism.
Maganda was arrested March 15 at his parents' home in Oceanside during a routine check on his compliance with court-ordered probation requirements from a previous case, Deputy Paul Milchalke said.
The defendant is believed to have used spray-paint and ink markers to scrawl his moniker on walls, fences and numerous utility poles and electrical junction boxes, according to Milchalke.
Authorities refused to say what Maganda was on probation for, but it was not adult probation, according to Greco.
